Kelly is the Founder and Executive Director of Girls Rock Charlotte...and feels like one of the luckiest women in the Queen City! A warm-hearted rebel who often got into trouble for "talking too much" as a girl a school, Kelly knows all too well how important it is for kids to find a positive, affirming and inspiring outlet for their voice.
"There's such synergy in my life. Everything I do - as a mom, teaching Women's and Gender Studies, an activist, friend and proud feminist - is centered on empowering girls, women and everyone. My energy and passion for Girls Rock Charlotte is boundless and positive because I am surrounded by so many talented, passionate and supportive people. I'll be rockin' this gig for many years to come."
Laura serves as the Treasurer for Girls Rock Charlotte. She holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from UNC Charlotte and is currently employed by the City of Charlotte as an Accountant II for The Charlotte Area Transit System. Laura is passionate about engaging with young girls and empowering them through mentoring, music, civic engagement and overall talent development.
"Laura is my former student from UNC Charlotte. Even then, she impressed me with her grace, compassion, intelligence, hard-work and calling to help girls. She remains one of the most amazing spirits and young women I know." Kelly Finley, GRC Founder.

"In Girls Rock Charlotte we have a unique opportunity to encourage girls to use their own voice and learn to trust other girls through the exciting vehicle of forming a rock band. I volunteer because I believe the state of the next generation is everyone's responsibility, because I adore teens and especially because I love and respect the other fantastically strong women involved on this program!

I support organizations who foster and cultivate an environment that includes and accepts transgender and gender non-conforming youth, encouraging their participation in the camp, and as adult volunteers. I believe in building the confidence of all girls and gender non-conforming youth."
A special thanks to the awesome women below who previously served on our board. Their help from the very beginning helped the dream of Girls Rock Charlotte become a rockin' reality!

I love being around and supporting strong women and girls; it lets me feed off and fuel a room (or auditorium) full of positive energy."
